Barnyard BBS
…can you afford to meet your retreat?
…can you hear me like I hear you?
Barnyard Biographies
These people were the key infleuences on Barnyard, and were the most active members. You'll see a lot of them in the Message Base Archives.
Do you belong on this list? Do you feel that I forgot to include you? If so, you can direct all updates or complaints to the contact page, where I will promptly do .... something.
Real Name: Chris Saltarelli
Chris was the sysop of the TerrorDome BBS and was the creator of the
FlameNet message network that Barnyard carried. I never knew that
much about him, so I can't really write a justified bio for him.
If anyone can provide a more suitable story for Chris, please let me
know.
Real Name: Ben Yanis
Definitely the hero of our story, also known as me. I started the
Barnyard back in 1995. I was a student at the Hill
School at the time. It started as a hobby, and evolved into a
rather large project. I ruled with an iron fist...until I went off
to college, and left the barn on autopilot.
I was 15 at the time, and was living in Pottstown. I continued
through Hill, and went to college afterward. As it turned out, I
would go to many colleges. Five in fact. Eventually I
graduated, and settled into real life. Having done both, I can say
that I rather prefer real life to college.

Real Name: Renee Beattie
Renee was probably more a part of the Barnyard than I ever was.
She held the all time posting record by a large margin. She started
(or ended) most of the conversations on the BBS. She was between
16-18 depending on which of the message archives you read.
She went on attend and graduate from RIT,
and I believe from Pitt also. I
haven't talked to her in a few years though, so I'm not quite sure.
Should you ever run into a girl with very red hair, and a herd of cats
following her, you might be in the right place.
Real Name: Jim Kyle
Jim was one of the younger members of the Hill
School crew. He joined Barnyard sometime in 1996, and was quite
the active player in many of the online games. He also posted quite a
lot.
Jim is one of the relatively few people that I am still in contact with
from the old days. He was even kind enough to fly in for the
wedding.
Jim's email is on file. To prevent spam, all email addresses
need to be requested through our Contact Page. Also, his website is
located here.
Also, he finally sent me a picture for his profile...
Real Name: Glenn Deery
Glenn was the sysop of the Rising Phoenix BBS. He was also the
creator/coordinator of the PapasNet message network which Barnyard
carried. I'm sorry, but I was never close enough with Glenn to write
a fitting bio for him.
I do not have any current contact info for Glenn, if you have an email
address or phone number, please let me know.
Real Name: Wayne Moyer
Wayne was an on-and-off sysop; but was always a
presence in the community. I haven't seen him in years. The
last time I saw him, he had recently married Percocet, and was living in
the Pottstown area.
I do not have any current contact info for Wayne, if you have an email
address or phone number, please let me know.
Real Name: I don't remember. Sorry.
Nightfall was the sysop of the
Belly of the Beast (BotB) BBS; and was an active contributor on FlameNet.
I've got to extend a special thanks to him; as he was a great help when I
started networking the Barnyard in the old days.
I do not have any current contact info for Nightfall, if you have an email
address or phone number, please let me know.
Real Name: Roman Mitz
Roman was one of the earliest members on Barnyard. In fact, he
taught me a lot back in those days. He was a few years older than I
was, and also attended the Hill.
He went on to attend Carnegie-Mellon, and took a job there after
graduation.
His website is rmitz.org.
Roman's email is on file. To prevent spam, all email addresses

Real Name: Matt Kraynyak
Matt was another member of the Hill
School crew. He was one of the earliest members of Barnyard, and
was one of my valiant cosysops. Matt spend many years issuing the
smackdown to everybody in the games.
Matt went on to attend William and Mary
for his undergrad work, and Oregon for his masters in chemistry. He
has been last seen teaching at Hill.
Matt's email is on file. To prevent spam, all email addresses
need to be requested through our Contact Page.
