Movies We've Watching

Netflix rocks.  It's running one of the most efficient shipping operations that I've ever seen.  We cycle through a lot of DVD's.  We've got the "3 at a time" plan.  By my calculations, we pay about $1.06 per disk rented.  They can't be making much money on us.  Ah well.

Here's what we've got at the moment.

The Last Unicorn

Shipped on 12/21/11.

This animated tale follows a unicorn who believes she's the last of her species and is searching high and low for someone just like her. All the while, she must avoid the evil Red Bull, who may be the one who killed off the rest of her kind.

The Worst Witch

Shipped on 12/21/11.

This HBO movie stars Fairuza Balk as Mildred, a hapless witch in training who appears to have little talent for the craft. She's hopeless at potions, terrible at casting spells and completely clueless about the appropriate witch accoutrements. With competitive Ethel (Anna Kipling) nipping at her heels, life is made even worse, especially when Mildred makes a fool of herself in front of the Grand Wizard (Tim Curry).

The Tale of Despereaux

Shipped on 12/21/11.

This star-studded adaptation of Kate DiCamillo's Newberry Medal-winning book tells the tale of an unusually gifted mouse named Despereaux (voiced by Matthew Broderick) who falls in love with a human princess (Emma Watson). Despereaux's different from other mice in that he reads books and has disproportionally large ears for his body. But with help from a rat named Roscuro (Dustin Hoffman), he sets out to win the girl of his dreams.
